All cell phones must remain “off and away” for the entire school day including, before school, passing period, lunch, and during school sponsored activities. At dismissal, students may use their cell phones to communicate with families regarding transportation or after school events/activities. 

“Off and away” means:
  • Device is powered off, on silent, or in “Do Not Disturb” mode
  • Device is not visible or accessible to the student
  • Device is stored in a backpack or designated location as directed by staff
Earbuds, headphones, tablets, recording devices (Meta glasses), and smartwatches must remain off and stored unless authorized.
 
Violations
  • First Offense: The student will be given a verbal warning.
  • Second Offense: The student’s phones will be confiscated by the teacher/staff for the remainder of the class period.
  • Third Offense: The student’s phone will be confiscated by the teacher/staff and stored in the front office/administration office for the remainder of the day.
  • Fourth Offense: A student's phone will be confiscated by the teacher/staff and stored in the office/administration office for the remainder of the day, and a parent/guardian will need to pick it up.
  • Cell phone violations before school, during passing, lunch, in restrooms, or the locker room will result in confiscation for the remainder of the day.

  • Additional actions will be taken for students who continually fail to meet cell phone expectations. Additional actions include, but are not limited to; lunch detention, lunch/after school campus beautification, turning in cell phones to administrators or teachers at the start of school/class, loss of privileges such as rallies, dance, or field trips.
