FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQ'S

Q: Does Smythe have a dress code?

A: YES, students are expected to wear khaki pants, shorts, or skirts (no shorter than your stretched out finger tips), along with a collared black, white, or dark green shirt. No RED or BLUE is allowed. Please click on the link to learn more about our Uniform Policy.

Q: How much homework will I have per night?

A:  It depends on what classes and teachers you have. On average, you'll receive 30 minutes of homework from each required academic class (English, History, Math, Science), with additional assignments from electives. You will have more homework if you take a language or if you are in an advanced math class.

Q: What should I do if I'm sick and can't come to school?

A: Call the office at 916-566-3430 as early as possible, or ask your parents to call, when you know you cannot come to school. When you return, check in at the office for an admit slip BEFORE going to class.  Refer to the Attendance page for more information.

Q: What supplies do I need for each class?

A:  A list of supplies may be provided during the Orientation; plus, your teachers will give you more information on the first day of class.

Q: Do I have to change for P.E.?

A:  Yes, each student must purchase a Smythe P.E. shirt and pair of shorts. Click on the Physical Education link to view a complete list of supplies students will need for P.E.
